Emergency services free woman trapped in car before flying her to Addenbrooke's Hospital

A woman was flown to hospital by air ambulance after being trapped in her car following a serious road accident in Southill Road, Cardington, this morning, (Thursday).

All three emergency services were called to the accident after a car came off the road at around 8.15am and landed in a ditch.

The road between Southill and Cardington was closed, with diversions in place, until 11.30am.

Clive Goodson, area manager for the East of England Ambulance Service who was on his way to work when he came across the collision said: "When I arrived it was evident that the woman was in a critical condition and required rapid interventions to stabilise her.

"The team of paramedics, emergency medical technicians and air ambulance medics worked very hard to treat her before she was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge."

The ambulance service was alerted at 8:23am after receiving reports of a car in a ditch and the occupant being trapped. Ambulance crews from Kempton station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

What do you think about Government proposals to double the size of Yarl's Wood?
After what we've been through in Bedfordshire with the riot and fire five years ago, I'd rather the facilities were built somewhere else.
Fair enough, we have got to house failed asylum seekers somewhere.
It's a recipe for disaster housing foreign criminals with immigrants who have outstayed their visas and others going through the fast-track immigration process.
