Korean pair prove too strong

Gail Emms' chances of claiming a gold medal in the badminton mixed doubles in Beijing came to an end on Thursday.

Former Dame Alice Harpur student Emms and her partner Nathan Robertson were beaten in straight sets by the Korean duo of Lee Hyo Yung and Lee Yong Dae.

The first set was a tightly matched affair which the Koreans snatched by a narrow 21-19 margin.

However, the second set was more one-sided with the Koreans winning 21-12 to advance to the last four.
