Remarkable comeback sets up last eight clash with Korea's Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Yong Dae

Badminton star Gail Emms and her mixed doubles partner Nathan Robertson produced a remarkable recovery to beat Chinese second seeds Zheng Bo and Gao Ling and reach the last eight in Beijing.

The pair, who won silver in Athens four years ago, came back from 17-12 down in the deciding game to win an incredible 76-minute battle 21-16 16-21 21-19 and set up a quarter-final clash with Korea's Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Yong Dae on Thursday.

Former Dame Alice Harpur School pupil Emms was ecstatic afterwards and said: "In the first game, we just came out and we were blinding.

"And in the second we weren't doing anything wrong but they just came at us.

"In that third game we just had to keep fighting. You just keep sticking in there. You just don't want to give up."

Today's Vote

What do you think about Government proposals to double the size of Yarl's Wood?
After what we've been through in Bedfordshire with the riot and fire five years ago, I'd rather the facilities were built somewhere else.
Fair enough, we have got to house failed asylum seekers somewhere.
It's a recipe for disaster housing foreign criminals with immigrants who have outstayed their visas and others going through the fast-track immigration process.
