Professional sculptor creates an abstract artwork designed by pupils at Beauchamp Middle School
A school art project has had youngsters bark-ing mad for their lessons, thanks to a three-day residency by a professional sculptor.

Artist Tom Harvey spent the week at Beauchamp Middle School, using chainsaws to create an abstract piece of art designed by pupil Klaudia Karas.

And youngsters have also been spending time during their lessons at the Hawk Drive school watching Mr Harvey in action and asking him about his craft.

Art teacher Daron (corr) Hutchinson said: "It is quite unusual to find someone like Tom who sculpts with chainsaws, and it might even be unique to find someone walking around a school with a chainsaw.

"I went to art college with Tom, and I know he is always in demand for his work. Projects like this help to bring art to life and to really enthuse students."

Today's Vote

Can marathon runner Paula Radcliffe and badminton star Gail Emms win Olympic gold for Bedford?
Paula's injury and the quality of Gail's opponents might make it tough.
I'm backing Paula to fulfil her dream at last.
Gail must do it after her fabulous first round win with Nathan Robertson.
Come on girls! You both can do it!
